Thomas Lee designed the very first Adirondack chair in 1904. Lee designed the basic model chair, which had the large armrest and slanted comfortable seats. Today, there are a myriad of different styles. There are reclining chairs, lounge chairs, chairs with retractable ottomans and even double Adirondack chairs.
